The GPS GSM Reference Station is a service for RTK and DGPS using GSM modems to transfer GPS corrections from a GPS Base Station located in Reykjavík to GPS Rovers in a distance of up to 40 Km for RTK and covering most of Iceland for DGPS.

GPS Senderinn is sending out the LEICA RTK format and can also transmit the standard RTCM format for DGPS use and the CRM/CRM+ format for use with Trimble GPS.

The GPS Receiver has been successfully changed to a Leica-Geosystems GRX1200 Classic 20Hz Permanent Base Unit controlled with Spider Software. The system has been running without problems since May 2006. GRX1200 can later be upgraded to future systems like Galileo and Compass when needed.

The new GPS GSM Reference has been testet with GSM connection to Machine Automation systems with very positive results.
